Unpacking Wraparound Supports: A Landscape Analysis of Full-Service Community Schools Through a University–Nonprofit Partnership

Fri, April 10, 3:45 to 5:15pm PDT (3:45 to 5:15pm PDT), JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, Floor: Ground Floor, Gold 2

Abstract

This mixed-methods study presents findings from a community landscape analysis examining wraparound supports in two full-service community high schools. This landscape analysis, guided by the National Partnership for Student Success (NPSS) Voluntary Quality Standards, used a practitioner-facing Quality Implementation Questionnaire as its primary tool for data collection and analysis. Site coordinators and managers from a nonprofit completed the questionnaire and participated in focus group interviews. The study identified strengths, such as strong staff–student relationships, and challenges related to onboarding, role clarity, and data use. Using design thinking and humanizing methods, this university–nonprofit collaboration elevated practitioner voice to co-construct equity-focused recommendations. This work shows how community-engaged inquiry can improve school-based systems and strengthen collaborative approaches to equity in education.
