Abstract

Design based research offers a unique opportunity to modify technology and curriculum iteratively. During a 2023 summer camp, researchers prototyping a suite of computational-action motivated technologies engaged in design based research complimented by a series of debriefing sessions after each of the ten days of the camp. These debriefing sessions allowed them to make modifications to their technologies during the course of the camp, motivated by theoretical goals to rapidly test hypotheses and affordances based on student resistance. This paper explores how these debriefing sessions contributed to tool refinements, and how in-the-moment implementation adjustments supported the development of a computational action driven community of practice within the camp.
