The purpose of this study was to illuminate what components are needed to classify sista circles as Sista Circle Methodology (SCM). Scholars have outlined the ways that they have utilized sista circle methodology in practice (Croom et. al., 2017; Dunmeyer et al., 2023; Palmer & Udoh, 2024); however, this study seeks to outline what is necessary for scholars to categorize a sista circle as SCM. After the analysis of twenty peer-reviewed articles focused on the use of SCM in education, I propose four components: (1) disruption of whiteness; (2) spaces of healing; (3) a counterspace; and (4) love is necessary to be categorized as SCM.
