Equity, inclusivity and social justice are being undermined and attacked within the context of higher education and teacher preparation, at a time when inequity continues to be a major problem in schools, communities, and their larger structures. The need for teacher preparation to be grounded in equity principles could not be more pressing, yet the complexities involved in addressing the structural inequalities of teaching, learning, and schooling are becoming increasingly challenging to address. This mixed-methods study utilized the Equity in Teacher Education framework (Author, 2022) to design equity-focused teacher preparation and examine the extent to which the program’s methods aligned with equity and justice commitments. Results offer insight into methods of meaningfully and practically instantiating equity within teacher preparation programs.
