This study aims to develop and validate a Rasch-based instrument to measure social media globalization exposure in ASEAN countries. Drawing on the social globalization dimension of the KOF Globalisation Index, the instrument captures three components: personal contact, information flow, and cultural proximity. A total of 2,957 individuals aged 15–60 from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia participated in the study. Given the mixed-item response formats, the Partial Credit Model (PCM) was applied to assess item fit, person reliability, threshold ordering, and differential item functioning (DIF). Findings are expected to provide valid evidence of how individuals across Southeast Asia experience social media-driven globalization and offer a psychometric foundation for future cultural research in the digital age.
