Abstract

Listening resides at the center of sound practices and at the heart of sociocultural understandings and qualitative research. What does it might mean to listen. Really listen. With your whole self. Beyond what it is you think you might hear to what you can perceive as you actively work to listen. This proposed paper attends to two constructions of Deep Listening that are of no small significance to qualitative researchers. Deep Listening is both how Aboriginal Australians describe their relationships to the world and the nomenclature for Pauline Oliveros’ life’s work.
