This evaluation study compares the effectiveness of virtual and in-person formats of a summer enrichment program designed to increase high school students’ knowledge and interest in science, healthcare, and medical careers. Using a quasi-experimental, mixed-methods design, the study examines participant ratings, pretest and posttest scores, and qualitative feedback. Findings show no significant differences in overall effectiveness between the two formats. The study also identifies key strategies that supported the virtual session’s success. Results suggest that, with thoughtful planning and use of online tools, virtual summer programs can offer meaningful educational experiences comparable to in-person delivery, and potentially broaden access to enrichment opportunities for more students.
