Abstract

Children and adolescents with LD often experience co-occurring emotional or behavioral problems, or both. This study sought to explore the prevalence of co-occurring LD and behavioral problems at the national level and the association between the odds of co-occurring LD and behavioral problems and student demographic factors. To address the aim, the authors utilized the 2023 National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH) data and estimated the prevalence of co-occurring LD and externalizing behavioral problems, internalizing behavioral problems, and both. Findings highlight the high co-occurring rate of LD and externalizing behavioral problems, challenges of recognizing internalizing behavioral problems, and the influence of students’ demographic factors.
