In the evolving landscape where artificial intelligence intersects with human creativity, new cultural expressions challenge traditional boundaries between author and algorithm, local heritage and global connectivity. This study explores international undergraduate students’ engagement with AI-assisted multimodal composition, framing creativity as both cultural practice and enactment of cosmopolitan citizenship. Through visual storytelling, podcasting, and hybrid media artifacts, students use AI not as a neutral tool but as a cultural collaborator that amplifies transnational expression while reflecting embedded algorithmic biases. Drawing on cosmopolitan pedagogies, the study introduces “cosmopolitan AI literacies,” culturally and ethically reflexive practices that integrate local knowledges within global digital networks, highlighting how students negotiate identity, agency, and critical engagement in AI-mediated creative environments.
