Abstract

Using the methodology of platicas, this study collaborates with educators to reflect and learn from the experiences of having to navigate the English Learner system. As we move forward toward educational renewal, we must re-examine the role of the English Learner label, its impacts and the educational outcomes it creates. Centering the voices of those who have navigated the EL system, we can learn how to effectively move toward a safe multilingual educational space.
