Thu, April 9, 4:15 to 5:45pm PDT (4:15 to 5:45pm PDT), Westin Bonaventure, Floor: Lobby Level, Los Feliz

Abstract

This study examines how ten Black Development Officers at private Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) secure funding for their institutions. While it presents significant findings and practical recommendations, the primary focus is on understanding the motivations and experiences of Black higher education professionals engaged in fundraising at private HBCUs. Ultimately, the research seeks to broaden scholarly dialogue and inspire greater representation of Black and Brown professionals in the field of philanthropy, particularly those emerging from minority serving institutions.
