Abstract

This study aimed to explore the challenges faced by the authors in the process of co-creating a PE curriulum with girls. This study drew upon Dewey's two concepts: education as experience and reflective thinking. The author adopted self-study as a methodology. Data were collected through different sources and data was analyzed by using reflexive thematic analysis. Three themes were constructed including: (a) Challenges in building relationships; (b) tensions between power relations; and (c) the exposure of vulnerability. The co-creation process was not successful in this study. However, from Dewey's perspective, these challenges are a natural process of growth and serve as a scaffolder for critical reflection. The key is not to avoid the challenges, but to embrace them as valuable resources.
