Abstract

This study explpres teachers'perspectives on AI integration in digital design higher education, addressing their overlooked role in shaping AI-driven pedagogy. Focusing on AI's impact on multimodal teaching, generative content creation, and professional development, it identifies effective strategies through qualitative case studies with fifteen instructors across three Chinese universities. Findings reveal AI enhances creativity and efficiency in multimodal contexts, tempered by authenticity concerns. Generative AI presents challenges like skill gaps but enables innovation and ethical education. Professional development benefits from AI-supported skill enhancement, though hybrid models are advised to balance human mentorship. The research underscores AI's transformative potential when harmonized with human-centric pedagogy, offering practical institutional recommendations for equitable digital design education.
