Abstract

Parents' home-based involvement in their students’ digital learning environments is the next frontier in studying parental engagement. Yet there is limited knowledge on what researchers know about parents’ perspectives and concerns with regards to digital learning at home and in school. The purpose of this research is to gather parental perspectives on their children’s digital learning. There were 7 mothers with children attending different elementary and middle schools in one city that were interviewed. Findings demonstrate digital challenges mothers’ experience along with recommendations that mothers have for schools. This study serves as a beginning step towards survey development for school districts to help guide their technology and family engagement practices.
