Abstract

The role of the institutional bodies of parents and guardians in schools is -broadly- to express and represent the collective views of their parents/guardians members. Nonetheless, it seems that the scope of PGAs’ role depends heavily on the particularities of each educational system. According to numerous studies, the role of these bodies is closely linked to the effective operation of school units, especially in matters of administration. The study presented in this paper was conducted in Cyprus and its purpose was to investigate the factors which relate to the set-up, composition, and functioning of PGAs and the dynamics associated with their activities.
