Abstract

This paper explores strategies for enhancing AI literacy among Caribbean students through AI image generation as a photovoice tool. During A three-day workshop, 14 Barbadian students (18-25 years old), discussed cultural identity and decolonization. As they used AI images to depict their perspectives, they were attentive to the impacts of biased data. This paper argues that Caribbean educators should discuss the bias in the data used to build AI algorithms and encourage the use of a reflexive approach to refining prompts.
