Sat, April 11, 1:45 to 3:15pm PDT (1:45 to 3:15pm PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level One, Petree Hall C

Abstract

This proposal explores how AI tools such as ChatGPT represent education system in Uzbekistan and how students at Webster University in Tashkent evaluate these representations. The study examines cultural, linguistic, and political dimensions of AI-generated texts with the focus on potential stereotypes and biases. Grounded in epistemic injustice, data colonialism, and decolonial AI theories, the research employs a Qualtrics-based survey with 40–60 graduate students. Participants will analyze AI-generated outputs and reflect on their credibility and cultural relevance. Findings will be examined through content and thematic analysis. The study aims to reveal algorithmic bias, foster AI literacy, and contribute to TESOL practice by highlighting how AI frames bilingual contexts.
