Abstract

For this session, the presenter will share poetry and critical reflections on art and activism. The presenter will foreground the work of cultural forebears of the Black Arts Movement (BAM) including Amiri Baraka, Haki Madhubuti, Sonia Sanchez, and The Last Poets. The presenter will channel the BAM and Black Power Movement legacies alongside a renewed call for liberatory art, artists, and artmaking in our contested times.
