Abstract

As universities seek to create better partnerships with Tribal Nations, positions are being created to address concerns and gaps in administration. There is little research about the experiences of Indigenous administrators, and how their roles serve as bridges between universities & Tribal Nations. By analyzing the historical and present day actions that higher education institutions that enact a settler colonial agenda that erases and moves to displace Native American communities, students, faculty and staff, this paper will share research focused on these experiences to understand how Indigenous Tribal Relations administrators are resisting settler colonial logics, and enacting Indigenous futurity by cultivating community based practices in higher education.
