Queering Educational Leadership: Community Colleges, Critical Consciousness, and Systems of Power

Abstract

This paper draws from a critical narrative inquiry with community college leaders to explore how leadership is shaped by and resists empire, whiteness, neoliberal capitalism, and cisheteropatriarchy. Here, queering is taken as a methodological and analytic stance to unsettle normative assumptions about who counts as a leader, how leadership is embodied, and how power operates. This work amplifies under-theorized community college contexts as vital sites of resistance and reimagination.
