Abstract

Continuing the discourse on the concept of Creative Resistance in Art Education (Darts, 2004; Hayes, 2020; Garcia, 2015, 2018, 2021, 2025) this paper expands the discourse on Creative Resistance through the art based teaching methodology of using the Latino based and a familial practice of the game known as La Loteria as an art-based methodology that enables students and educators to analyze and challenge issues of Race, Class, and Gender through the art-making process. (Garcia, 2018; Kohli et. al., 2020; Garcia & Kiyama, 2025). The work discusses the epistemology, literature, and practical art-based Loteria methodology through the trajectory of a male professor of color, Chicano Artist, and former high school art educator.
