Abstract

Technology is continuously integrated into work, education, and life. How do educators maintain what is intrinsically human? Teacher survey data were collected from a research-practice partnership designed and implemented through a professional social-emotional (SEL) development program. Teachers' perspectives were explored. Challenges for teachers were found to be major barriers to teaching SEL. The broad research questions in this study are: What are some of the Kenyan teachers' perceived hindrances to SEL skills that their Kenyan students are facing that are impacting their daily lives, their ability to learn SEL, a vital skill for the 21st century? What are some of the hindrances that Kenyan teachers are facing that are impacting their ability to help cultivate these skills in their classrooms?
