Abstract

Given the history of U.S immigration policies and contemporary xenophobia, it is imperative to understand the experience of U.S. citizens from mixed-status families in higher education (Daftary, 2018). There are gaps in research about the effects of parental undocumented status in adulthood, U.S. citizens from mixed-status families in higher education are overlooked. The role and experience of institutional agents in higher education supporting this student population is also understudied. The research questions guiding this study are (1) What is the experience of students in higher education who are Latinx, U.S. citizens, and from mixed-status families? (2) What is the experience of institutional agents in higher education who have supported students who are Latinx, U.S. citizens, and from mixed-status families?
