Abstract

This systematic literature review examines research on AI-assisted anxiety interventions between 2020-2025. With the widespread use of AI in mental health, chatbots and digital tools are seen as scalable ways to cope with anxiety. However, most studies are still in the preliminary stages, lacking system development, user engagement, and empirical validation. This study followed the PRISMA guidelines and utilized a modified PICO framework to search the literature across four databases, yielding a total of 397 studies. After the initial screening, 36 articles remained for full-text analysis. Preliminary results show that some studies have a clear design, but most lack rigorous evaluation. Evidence of validity, feasibility and acceptability will be synthesized.
