Investigating the Experiences of Iranian Graduate Students Studying in the United States

Thu, April 9, 2:15 to 3:45pm PDT (2:15 to 3:45pm PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level One, Petree Hall C

Abstract

This study explores the personal and academic experiences of Iranian graduate students. While there is considerable research on international students, a significant gap remains in studies that specifically address Iranian students—a group whose presence in U.S. higher education has grown substantially over the past two decades. A qualitative interview study is currently being conducted with Iranian graduate students to identify their unique experiences, including the challenges they face, the aspects they enjoy, and the ways they strive to create a sense of belonging during their lives in the United States. Findings from this research will inform higher education administrators and instructors about effective strategies to better support these students.
