Designing an Infant-Toddler Hub in a Public High School: Gathering Feedback through Participatory Action Research

Wed, April 8, 1:45 to 3:15pm PDT (1:45 to 3:15pm PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level One, Petree Hall C

Abstract

This study is being conducted as part of a larger community-based participatory action research to co-create a culturally-sustaining infant-toddler care and resource hub at the Pontiac High School. Utilizing unused space at Pontiac High School, key partners in this initiative aim to create a high-quality, community-designed program to fill childcare gaps within the city of Pontiac. The initial phase of this action research involves identifying the needs of the Pontiac community through interviews with residents and organizational stakeholders who operate within the city limits. We present the results of the focus groups and interviews conducted by Community Interviewers to help inform the design of this hub, Baby PEACE.
