Abstract

This study examines the growing prevalence of digital dependence among children aged 0–13, with emphasis on early childhood (0–6) where critical developmental foundations are formed. Excessive screen exposure, averaging 2–4 hours daily for young children and up to 5.5 hours for older peers, is linked to emotional, social, and cognitive challenges. Using a Community-Based Participatory Research approach integrated with Piaget’s and Erikson’s theories, the research engages educators, parents, and communities to identify risk and protective factors, from parental regulation to socio-environmental supports. A mixed-methods design combines national survey analysis with qualitative insights to inform culturally relevant interventions. Findings guide educators, parents, and policymakers toward strategies fostering balanced digital engagement that promotes healthy development and resilience.
