Abstract

There are growing concerns in China about the well-being of university students due to the high prevalence of mental health issues. Mindfulness-based programs (MBPs) have emerged as promising interventions for promoting mental well-being. The current study leverages data from a pilot randomized controlled trial (n = 112) to assess the efficacy and feasibility of a culturally adapted mindfulness-based program for college students in China. I assess the impact of the program on anxiety and depression symptoms, and explore whether impacts are larger for those who engage in more practice. As a mixed-methods study, I also conduct an applied thematic analysis of qualitative data from semi-structured interviews conducted with 18 participants, exploring perceived effects and barriers.
