Abstract

This presentation examines the history and evolution of Division H’s four core tenets and their integration into the Division’s governing by-laws. The speaker will trace how these guiding principles—rigorous research, meaningful evaluation, equitable assessment, and effective communication of results—emerged from the Division’s founding commitment to improving educational practice through data-informed decision-making. Over time, these tenets became institutionalized in Division H’s by-laws, shaping its organizational structure, membership engagement, and recognition programs. The presentation highlights how this deliberate codification strengthened Division H’s identity, ensuring consistency across leadership transitions while allowing flexibility for innovation. Attendees will gain insight into how these enduring principles continue to anchor Division H’s mission and guide its contributions to educational research and applied evaluation.
