7. Listening Like Moss: A Live Mosscast Recording as Multispecies Pedagogy in Performance

Wed, April 8, 11:45am to 1:15pm PDT (11:45am to 1:15pm PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Room 515B

Abstract

In an era marked by a polycrisis of authoritarianism, ecological grief, and entangled injustices, we ask: “How do we listen and to whom?” This demonstration/performance features a live recording of mosscast: a multivoicED podcast–a bricolage of Critical Podcasting Methods, ecological memory, and scholar-activism rooted in posthumanist and EcoJustice Education frameworks. Mosscast emerges as both educational research and public pedagogy engaging multispecies storytelling as a form of unforgetting, relational justice, and future-making. Through guided conversation, ambient sound, and audience presence, the session performs education research as a multisensory, relational act. The performance will be recorded and later published exploring “listening as ecological memory,” inviting participants into slow, ethical, and more-than-human modes of inquiry, modeling podcasting as both method and dissemination.
