From Meta-Analysis to Practice: Understanding How Education Research is Interpreted and Applied

Sat, April 11, 3:45 to 5:15pm PDT (3:45 to 5:15pm PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Poster Hall - Exhibit Hall A

Abstract

Meta-analysis is a powerful tool for summarizing research that policymakers and practitioners can use to make decisions in education contexts and should include detailed reporting of the process leading to a highly detailed report that can be difficult for a non-technical audience to interpret appropriately. This study explores documents that cite meta-analytic research and how they report the results. With the knowledge collected through this study, authors of meta-analyses will better understand how their research is used, the most pertinent strategies to improve use, and potential recommendations to increase the use of meta-analytic research.
