A 16-week experiment was conducted to explore the effectiveness of social media for sharing research-backed practitioner journal articles focused on supporting students with disabilities in mathematics to a K-12 practitioner audience. A total of 47 practitioner articles were assigned to one of three conditions: (a) no social media promotion, (b) text-based social media promotion, and (c) innovative social media promotion using a translational visual abstract (TVA). The TVA is a concise, infographic-like summary of a practitioner journal article, with visuals, minimal text, and availability of alternative text for accessibility. Findings suggest that TVA posts outperformed text-only posts and highlight the potential for social media as an avenue for mobilizing knowledge to a K-12 practitioner audience.
