Accompaniment: An Ethical Approach for Collaboration in Higher Education (Stage 2, 11:02 AM)

Abstract

Teaching assistants (TA) are heavily drawn on in higher education. The relationship between the TA and lead teacher (LT) can significantly inform their experience and the experience of students but the ethics of their encounter is undertheorized. In this paper, we analyze two TA and LT dyads through the lens of accompaniment. In doing so, we highlight themes that can enhance this form of collaboration and support mutual growth.
