This pilot case study examined the use of a localized Case-Based Collaborative Learning (CBCL) model in secondary health science classrooms. Five teachers across four districts implemented a type 1 diabetes case study, with feedback collected from reflections and student surveys (n=166). The CBCL approach promoted critical thinking, real-world application, and student engagement through collaborative problem-solving in medical scenarios. Students valued acting as medical professionals and working in groups to analyze data and make diagnoses. While some found the content challenging, most reported increased interest in healthcare careers. Findings suggest CBCL is a promising model for enhancing learning and motivation in secondary health science education and offer insights for curriculum and workforce-aligned instruction.
