Abstract

This paper presents a conceptual synthesis of Key Insights on Education for Planetary Futures, a global initiative that gathered over 90 contributions from educators, researchers, and youth leaders reimagining education amid ecological and social collapse. Building on and diverging from the “10 New Insights in Climate Science,” the paper identifies ten provocative insights that challenge extractive, individualistic paradigms and call for relational, justice-centered, and more-than-human curriculum frameworks. Grounded in relational theory, Indigenous cosmologies, and posthumanist pedagogies, the paper positions education as a vital site of ontological and epistemic transformation. These insights offer both a roadmap for future research and a practical framework for advancing planetary justice and collective repair—directly responding to AERA’s call for just educational renewal.
