There has been an increase in ADHD incidences among Black youth, yet little research exists that explicitly examines the differences in medication treatment among rural Black children in comparison to White children, nor the perceptions of ADHD diagnosis, treatment, and management from the perspectives of rural Black caregivers (Danielson et al., 2018; Danielson et al., 2022; Kang & Harvey, 2020; Stanley, 2015). This paper explores the lived experiences of Black caregivers in rural communities with children diagnosed with ADHD, examining how race, geography, and neurodivergence intersect in educational contexts and what this means for those tasked with caring for these children.
