Session Type: Symposium
Abstract: Millions of students earn college credits in high school annually through either dual enrollment or exam-based programs such as Advanced Placement (AP). This study is the first to examine the extent to which college credits earned in high school transfer and are applied in postsecondary institutions. This symposium includes four papers that look at different aspects of the transfer process for dual enrollment and AP credits: 1) the number of college credits earned in high school and the relationship with postsecondary outcomes; 2) staff and student experiences with the credit transfer process; 3) the number of credits that transfer and the relationship with postsecondary outcomes; and 4) how transcript data can be utilized to look at the application of credits.
