Session Type: Symposium
An international group of educational researchers have contributed to a current handbook (citation redacted) that critiques historic injustices and offers new perspectives on educational leadership. For this interactive session, comprising introductory comments and small group discussion (not paper presentations), traditional critical theory-inspired thinking will be applied to issues such as colonization, managerialism, and other forms of educational exclusion that inform our current challenges. For example, recent attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and efforts to dismantle public and democratic schooling will be addressed. Authors will employ various methodologies (indigenous perspectives) and theoretical perspectives to both critique current policies and practices and envision more equitable educational futures.
