Session Type: Symposium
Transformative frameworks for conducting research address social inequities and injustices by elevating the perspectives of individuals who have been marginalized due to gender, race/ethnicity, disability, coloniality, and identity (Mertens, 2007). The intersection of transformative frameworks and mixed methods research (MMR) can help researchers elucidate complexities of a research topic and be used to identify pathways to social change. This session will share the work of three panelists in how they apply transformative frameworks in their empirical research. These presenters will describe their process for identifying a transformative framework, challenges encountered, and how to address these when conducting transformative MMR to further advance this vital methodological dialogue.
