Session Type: Roundtable Session
Teacher leadership (TL) as an educational practice and a field of academic research has grown in the past two decades. Research has begun to demonstrate the benefits to teacher leadership to school communities including both teachers and students. Across the globe, schools that lead to the most positive and student and teacher outcomes demonstrate high levels of TL. However, how teacher leadership is enacted and defined varies by context. This symposium will show that while TL may be enacted differently in various international contexts, the benefits to students and teachers is consistent. This symposium will bring together international scholars to share insights and findings from various contexts in a conversation around the benefits and struggles of implementing TL.
