Session Type: Symposium
Student advising can impact how students navigate school and their postsecondary pathways and it can be especially important for reducing equity gaps among groups with less information about their educational options. This session presents findings from four studies conducted across two states each examining different aspects of dual enrollment and career-focused advising. Topics include: 1) factors affecting advising and recruitment for dual enrollment courses; 2) implementation of CTE-focused advising related to postsecondary pathways; 3) impacts of career coaching on student outcomes; and 4) students’ perceptions of and experiences with college and career planning. The discussant will address the significance of these findings for both state and national education policy.
