Session Type: Symposium
Inspired by an upcoming Handbook of Foucault and Education, this symposium will be organized around six themes: activism and resistance; emerging trends and global perspectives; historicizing educational knowledge and practice; institutional dynamics; subject formation and education; and theoretical and methodological implications. Beginning with a theoretical provocation by the Handbook’s editorial team, the symposium will provide chapter authors the opportunity to briefly contextualize their contributions before inviting the audience to engage in small group discussions of their choice. Finally, the symposium will conclude with an opportunity to discuss and provoke dialogue about the importance of Foucauldian scholarship in connection with this year’s conference theme on unforgetting history and constructing new visions for educational research.
