Session Type: Symposium
How do you actually build a motivation intervention? This symposium takes a behind-the-scenes look at the often-unseen process of developing interventions. Rather than spotlighting only polished outcomes, we focus on what is rarely discussed: the early missteps, the design pivots, the messy iterations, and the moments of insight that move an intervention from concept to reality. This session makes two contributions: (1) a scholarly one by showcasing the intellectual foundations of cutting-edge interventions, and (2) a practical one by offering candid reflections on lessons learned along the way. By foregrounding early-stage, theory-informed intervention work, this symposium opens up space for new scholars and seasoned researchers alike to reflect on what it really takes to design meaningful, scalable motivation interventions.
