Session Type: Roundtable Session
This symposium examines right-wing extremism's coordinated assault on public education through four interconnected presentations. First, we explore critical research-practice-policy partnerships developed by a 35-member collective of researchers, advocates, and educators to resist extremist education agendas. Second, we analyze California's dense network of 490 far-right actors mobilizing around education policy, revealing how seemingly local school board conflicts connect to national organizations like Moms for Liberty and Heritage Foundation. Third, we examine White Christian Nationalism as a framework for understanding ideological resistance to educational equity. Finally, we present organizing strategies from civil-rights organizations, teachers' unions, and community groups combating far-right policies. Together, these papers illuminate the coordinated nature of attacks on public education while demonstrating collaborative approaches to defend educational justice and equity.
