Session Type: Symposium
Educational research consistently aims to enhance student achievement and educational equity. However, findings from large-scale international assessments continue to indicate a concerning decline in student performance, alongside persistent inequities in educational outcomes. In particular, individual student characteristics, such as socioeconomic and migration backgrounds, remain strong predictors of academic success, underscoring the ongoing challenge of achieving high performance and equity in education. This symposium addresses these issues through secondary analyses of PISA data, aiming to identify how student achievement and educational equity can be effectively promoted at the individual, classroom, school, and system levels. By applying innovative methodological approaches and embedding research questions within established theoretical frameworks, the symposium seeks to generate robust evidence and formulate actionable educational policy recommendations.
