Session Type: Symposium
This symposium explores current research on promoting teachers’ occupational well-being, a key factor in effective teaching and student outcomes. Given increasing teacher stress, burnout, and shortages worldwide, the symposium highlights intervention strategies at both individual and school levels. Four presentations include: a longitudinal study on an app-based mindfulness intervention for preservice teachers; an experimental study on brief mindfulness to reduce stress during simulated teaching; a mixed-methods evaluation of school-wide mindfulness and compassion programs; and a systematic review on school-based intervention effectiveness. Together, these contributions provide a comprehensive overview of cutting-edge research, integrating diverse theoretical and methodological approaches. The symposium offers important implications for educational practice and policy to support teachers' well-being and professional sustainability integrating perspectives from the seed-and-soil hypothesis.
