Session Type: Symposium
This AERA Symposium presents new research from the Equity-Centered Principal Pipeline Initiative (ECPI), a five-year study of how eight large urban districts redesigned leader preparation, support, and supervision to advance educational equity. Drawing on five empirical strands, the session introduces tools to understand and support equity-centered leadership: a formative survey to support school-level equity centered leadership, a system-wide equity indicator data resource mapping framework, and a social network analysis of district leadership coordination. Together, the studies provide a unique, comprehensive perspective on how district, universities, community partners and researchers design and enact large-scale equity-focused leadership reforms. The session offers timely insights into building and sustaining equity-centered leadership systems across schools, districts, and research-practice partnerships.
