Career Technical Education in Action: Site visit to Roosevelt Senior High School

Abstract

Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), with over 300 career technical education (CTE) programs, is an ideal location to explore the diversity of CTE models and to see high-quality CTE in action. In the proposed site visit to Roosevelt Senior High School, which has CTE programs in four different industry sectors, participants will get a chance to do both. The site visit will include an overview of research on CTE in the district, a chance to speak with school and district leadership, a student panel, and a panel of teachers and industry partners. Participants will leave the visit energized by the potential of CTE to transform students’ high school experiences and with practical strategies for developing quality CTE programs.
