Expanding Research Practice Partnerships: Integrating Youth Voices for Equitable and Impactful Collaboration

Sat, April 11, 9:45 to 11:15am PDT (9:45 to 11:15am PDT), Los Angeles Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Room 515B

Session Type: Structured Poster Session

Abstract

This session examines how youth can serve as central contributors in Research Practice Partnerships (RPPs), moving beyond traditional passive roles to become knowledge producers and change agents. Drawing from empirical studies across diverse contexts—including environmental engineering, climate justice education, mathematics engagement, school safety, and mental health—we explore structures and implications of authentic youth partnership. Featured research demonstrates how youth participation challenges traditional power dynamics while creating more equitable educational environments. Through poster presentations and guided discussions, participants will engage with emerging research on youth-centered RPPs and identify actionable takeaways for advancing equitable educational practices, policies, and future research initiatives.
