Session Type: Symposium
This symposium brings together interdisciplinary scholarship examining how generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is reshaping learning, writing, communication, and research in postsecondary education. As GenAI tools become ubiquitous in academic and professional spaces, educators and researchers must address their pedagogical potential alongside questions of equity, accessibility, and ethical engagement. Focusing on historically marginalized student populations, including Black immigrant youth, Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students with learning disabilities, and students at minority-serving institutions (MSIs), this session investigates how GenAI can be responsibly leveraged to support digital literacy, inclusive pedagogy, and methodological innovation. Through a range of empirical, theoretical, and design-based research approaches, this symposium advances a vision for AI-enhanced education that is student-centered, justice-oriented, and methodologically forward-looking.
